Created by Kaci Pratt, Tourette’s Support Group Guernsey is an open Facebook Group offering support, advice, awareness and education for those suffering with the Syndrome as well as friends and families of those affected. Members are able to make posts and connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges with their conditions within Guernsey.

Tourette’s Syndrome is defined as a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary tics and/or vocalizations and often involuntary muscle movements. The Syndrome commonly manifests during childhood or adolescence. For more information on Tourette’s Syndrome, visit the UK’s leading charity Tourette’s Action.

Anyone can join the Guernsey support group and participate, but must follow the admin’s rules of conduct:

  1. Be Kind and Courteous
We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  2. No hate speech or bullying
Make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and degrading comments about things such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
  3. Respect everyone’s privacy
Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group.
