Womens Institute

Welcome to the W.I. Guernsey Federation

The Womens Institute (The WI) is an organisation with charitable status for women of all ages, whose main objective is to further the education and welfare of women.

The WI is a welcoming organisation where the view of each and every member is important. It provides an opportunity for shared experiences, making new friends, socialising, campaigning, learning new skills and sharing existing ones. In short the WI is whatever YOU want it to be.

It’s not just “Jam and Jerusalem”. Most WIs will offer home- made cake at their meetings and yes we do sing Jerusalem at our annual meeting but there’s also so much more on offer. It’s full of inspiring women with knowledge, skills and experiences to share.

The WI even has its own adult education college, Denman College, an elegant Georgian country house at Marcham in Oxfordshire. This offers a wide range of courses led by tutors from across the UK who are specialists in their fields.

Guernsey currently has 12 WIs including 1 WI in Alderney. For a list of local WI’s please click here.

If you are new to the Islands then this is the ideal way of meeting people, making friends, learning new skills, helping others, but above all enjoying yourself.

If you are visiting Guernsey or Alderney you are  welcome to attend a meeting or event, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you would like to find out more about the WI, please do not hesitate to contact us.
