Take your first steps towards an active lifestyle
Walking is a wonderful form of natural exercise that can keep you healthy, living longer – and can put a smile on your face.
Walking can:
- Help your heart and lungs work
better - Lower your blood pressure
- Keep your weight down
- Lighten your mood
- Keep your joints, muscles and
bones strong - Increase ‘good’ cholesterol
Taking regular walks reduces the risk of a number of diseases and medical conditions too such as:
- Heart disease
- Type 2 diabetes
- Depression
- Osteoporosis
- Certain cancers
Walking for Health offers:
Free 30 minute walks on every day of the week except Saturdays. Led by trained volunteers these scenic walks are suitable for anyone who wants to get a little fitter with like-minded people. All walks end at a café where refreshments can be purchased.
New walkers please come a few minutes earlier and make yourself known to the leaders with red rucksacks and high vis vests.
