Walking For Health

Take your first steps towards an active lifestyle

Walking is a wonderful form of natural exercise that can keep you healthy, living longer – and can put a smile on your face.

Walking can:

  • Help your heart and lungs work
    better
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Keep your weight down
  • Lighten your mood
  • Keep your joints, muscles and
    bones strong
  • Increase ‘good’ cholesterol

Taking regular walks reduces the risk of a number of diseases and medical conditions too such as:

  • Heart disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Certain cancers

Walking for Health offers:

Free 30 minute walks on every day of the week except Saturdays. Led by trained volunteers these scenic walks are suitable for anyone who wants to get a little fitter with like-minded people. All walks end at a café where refreshments can be purchased.

New walkers please come a few minutes earlier and make yourself known to the leaders with red rucksacks and high vis vests.

Most walk routes are accessible by bus – see www.buses.gg or phone 700456.
