Guernsey Community Savings is a non-profit making charitable organisation helping financially excluded Guernsey residents access basic financial services.
We are not a bank. Instead, we are able to provide access to accounts for Guernsey residents, referred to us by the local community support agencies, by way of an account opened on the mimoney platform. Money credited into this account is then placed with a UK bank regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority. Money held through Guernsey Community Savings is safeguarded under the UK’s Electronic Money Regulations. Each customer has an account, a seamlessly linked debit card, and a means of building up savings. We also provide basic budgeting advice, and we may make small loans available to help overcome financial crises.
We aim to help customers manage their financial affairs, play a full, valuable role in society and ultimately gain access to mainstream banking.
Guernsey Community Savings has been established by a group of Guernsey residents with many years’ experience in the fields of finance, regulation and the law who recognise the benefits, both to the individuals and to society, of supporting those unfortunate enough to be financially and socially disadvantaged.
