Calm Counselling

Calm Counselling offer a safe, open and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions either face-to-face, online or via telephone.

How does counselling help?

Counselling offers an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts and emotions in a safe, confidential setting away from the pressures and judgement of society. The overall aim being to work towards living in a way which is more satisfying and resourceful.

People seek counselling for many reasons. Some may be feeling depressed, anxious, having difficulties in relationships or are battling addictions they do not feel able to control. Some come because they feel sad and empty inside and others because of feelings of guilt or low self-esteem. Mostly, people seek counselling because they feel stuck, unsatisfied or lost in their lives.

Counselling may be concerned with addressing and resolving specific problems, offer support in decision making or coping with a crisis. It may assist in improving relationships with others or provide a place where inner conflict can be voiced and worked through. My role, whilst always respecting your values and capacity for choice, is to help you explore whatever it is that is troubling you, and through our work together, facilitate any changes you may wish to make.

An Effective, Combined Approach

At Calm we practice Integrative Humanistic Counselling and recognise the uniqueness of each individual client. Humanistic Counselling assumes that each person has the ability to grow emotionally and psychologically and achieve self fulfilment. As Integrative counsellors we are able to combine knowledge and skills from multiple disciplines; Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person-Centred, which can be much more effective than just focusing on one approach.

Transactional Analysis is designed to promote personal growth and change and can help people to reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives.

Gestalt Therapy explores experiences in the here-and-now and works with the body process. Allowing people to draw on information and become more attuned to what is happening for them in a holistic way.

Person-Centred counselling adopts a genuine and transparent model, offering those being counselled the space to explore in their own way with acceptance.

At Calm we treat every client as an individual and draw upon these various approaches to offer each client therapy that is unique and personal to them.

Your counselling journey…

Initial Consultation

30 minutes (Free of charge) – Before counselling can commence it is important to have an Initial Consultation in which we will gather information about you, your background, and what has brought you to therapy. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the way in which we work, and to see if you feel comfortable and happy to proceed. If you do, we will work collaboratively on a framework to get the most out of your sessions.

Counselling Sessions

50 minutes – In person, online or telephone – After the initial consultation, therapy can begin. We will arrange to meet at a time that is mutually convenient in a calm, safe, confidential and non-judgmental space. Your individual needs help us to shape each session as we explore your thoughts and emotions.

Review Sessions

We aim to review the counselling process on the sixth session. Reviews are used as a tool to re-align therapy to your individual requirements. There are no limits to the number of sessions you can attend; this is decided by you and your goals for therapy.

If you would like to find out more or to arrange an Initial Consultation, please contact Calm Counselling via their website, phone or e-mail.
