Youth Commission – Child Sexual Exploitation
What is Child Sexual Exploitation?
Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a type of child abuse. It happens when a child is encouraged, or forced, to take part in sexual activity in exchange for something.
- The reward might be presents, money, alcohol, or simply emotional attention
- It can happen to any child or young person
- It might seem like a normal friendship or relationship to begin with
- It can happen online or offline and without the young person being aware of it
The Youth Commission offers support and advice to children and young people who are at risk of or are experiencing child sexual exploitation.
On a one-to-one basis, our Child Sexual Exploitation worker will work with the child or young person to explore different issues such as healthy relationships, sexual health and consent. We use a variety of different activities to do this and will work at the child or young person’s pace throughout.
If you are worried about a child or young person or would like some information on child sexual exploitation, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
