Teenage Cancer Trust – Guernsey Appeal
The Guernsey appeal was launched in February 2011 with an initial target to raise £100,000 to help with development of a new Teenage Cancer Trust unit for patients aged between 13 and 24 at Southampton General Hospital. Thanks to the generosity and support of businesses and people in Guernsey we surpassed this target, the ward was built in 2013 and received its first patients at the beginning of September 2013.
TCT Guernsey Appeal is the local branch of the UK charity, so we can help local patients directly here from Guernsey, whether this is for travel to and from the UK for treatment (our young patients in Guernsey need to receive some or all of their treatment over in Southampton) or just general care and wellbeing projects locally.
We continue fundraising to help maintain the ward, fund specialist staff and resources needed and also help local patients and their families with travel and other costs. The funding also aids research and delivers education and awareness programmes in local secondary schools.
