(formerly Patient UK) is an online health information directory created in 1996 by Dr Tim Kenny and his wife, Dr Beverley Kenny, which aims to supply evidence-based information on a wide range of medical and health topics to patients and health professionals.

The comprehensive directory of clinical information is lead by a group of medical authors to produce a free resource for medical staff and their patients, delivered directly into GP practices via healthcare software provider EMIS.

Clinically accurate and up to date

Under the stewardship of Clinical Director (and BBC Radio 2 resident GP) Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE, the extensive library is created by trained medical professionals, following a strict peer review process. Regular contributors to the content include healthcare figures such as Dr Rosemary LeonardProf. Lesley ReganProf Swaran Singh and Dr Partha Kar. The development of the medicine leaflets is overseen by pharmacist Michael Stewart and recipes are reviewed by nutritionist Rose Constantine Smith.

The website has been accredited by The Information Standard – NHS England’s quality mark – and Health On the Net. connects people with knowledge that makes them healthier, at every stage of their life. You can find a symptom checker, healthy living articles, support forums, videos and quizzes, and answers to questions users are asking most often.
