Guernsey Linking Lives
Guernsey Linking Lives is a befriending service aimed at older adults who find themselves requiring some extra friendship and support, and this is provided through weekly home visits. We match volunteers with those who are referred to us and all volunteers are carefully selected, trained and vetted.
The service has been set up using the model of the UK charity which has been operating since 1998. Guernsey Linking Lives is part of the Guernsey Welfare Charity which has been assisting people on the island since 1896. The Linking Lives Scheme seeks to match volunteers with older people who would like to see a friendly volunteer visitor on a regular basis for around one hour and perhaps go out for short outings to places of local interest.
For all referrals or more information on becoming a volunteer, please contact us directly.
Referrals
We accept referrals from statutory organisations such as social workers, social prescribers, GP’s and community health practitioners, charities, friends and family members or self-referrals.
Our service should be requested with the agreement of the person concerned. We regret that we may be unable to arrange visits where there are health conditions that impact significantly on a person’s ability to hold a conversation.
Our service is available to older adults living within Guernsey. For further details please contact us on 07839188180.
We are not currently accepting referrals through the website. If you are looking to refer anyone please contact us directly on linkinglives@welfare.gg or 07839 188180. We do have a backlog and any referrals will be placed on a waiting list until we are able to arrange an assessment.
Thank you.
